Tropical Haupia
Description
Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian dessert, which is not only delicious, but is a very versatile dessert. Feel free to make a single flavor or layer them in the pan for a tiered effect. You can also substitute a different pureed fruit for the mango, creating your own fruit combinations.
Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp cornstarch
- 6 Tbsp raw or organic sugar
- 3 cups coconut milk
Instructions
- Combine cornstarch with 1/2 cup of coconut milk and set aside.
- Pour the remaining milk (2 1/2 cups) into a saucepan along with the sugar. Bring to a low boil.3. Once it begins to boil, slowly stir in the cornstarch and milk mixture. Continue to stir until thickened.4. When it has thickened, remove from heat and spread evenly into a 8-inch glass baking dish. Allow Haupia to cool thoroughly before covering. Chill in refrigerator for at least a few hours, before slicing into squares and serving.

Mango Haupia
6 Tbsp cornstarch

1 1/4 cups mango puree
1 3/4 cups coconut milk
