Campfire s’mores are the best, but sometimes classics need a makeover, and this classic is no exception. Seriously, once you try these babies you’ll be hooked!

I thought this would make a spectacular dessert for a get together around the fire pit, whether it’s on your next camping trip or just hanging out in your front yard. The best part is that you can pick up all the components, without having to spend hours in the kitchen (unless you want to).
Here’s my suggested list, but feel free to improvise depending on your tastes, any allergies, or what you have on hand.
Oh, and before I get to the list, I wanted to tell you about the super cool fire pit that I’ve been using to make them. It’s the Solo Stove, and it’s so awesome! It’s nearly smokeless, it’s portable, it burns logs, and it’s super durable. It even comes with a lifetime guarantee! It’s quickly becoming our favorite outdoor accessory. Here’s a link to the one I have, if you want to check it out. There are even cool accessories like a wok top, grill and even a griddle.
Now, for the delicious twists:
I like to put out a platter of different cookies (snickerdoodle, chocolate chip, lemon or vanilla, and graham crackers. The cookies can be gluten-free or regular (I use GF). Then you need the marshmallows. I like the vegan ones from Dandies or Trader Joes. Both work great!
Then I like to include some delicious spreads like raspberry jam, lemon curd, apricot jam, or even a chocolate hazelnut spread. Heck, I think any nut butter would be delicious too! Don’t forget sliced fresh fruit like peaches, apricots, berries, or cherries. The fruit takes the s’mores to a whole new level!
Oh, and kettle chips (my favorite are the Himalayan sea salt ones). You can use these in place of the cookies. You get the sweet along with a little salty (with chocolate and toasted marshmallow). Another winner!
Let everyone create their own masterpieces, but here are a few of my favorite combinations:
Lemon S’mores -this are so incredible! I really like them open-faced, but you can use 2 cookies too. Take a lemon or vanilla cookie, top with a dollop of lemon curd, a toasted marshmallow, and if you like, a small slice of fresh peach, nectarine or apricot.
Chocolate Chip -take a chocolate chip cookie, top with a dollop of raspberry jam, a piece of chocolate, and a toasted marshmallow. So good!
Snickerdoodle -top a snickerdoodle cookie with a piece of chocolate, a toasted marshmallow, and a couple of fresh raspberries.
Hazelnut Chocolate -top a graham cracker with a generous spread of chocolate hazelnut spread and a toasted marshmallow. They are yummy!
I’d love to hear if you give these a try, and what your favorite combo is.
Happy roasting!
xoxo Julie
