PrintCrack Gravy
- Yield: Makes about 3 cups 1x
Description
This fat-free and delicious brown gravy will become a low-fat staple. It’s also wheat-free and nutritious. This recipe is my variation of Bryanna Clark Grogan’s Rich Brown Gravy recipe. Around my house, this gravy is referred to as “crack gravy” because it’s so addictive.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup nutritional yeast flakes
- 2 tablespoons GF oat flour (grind rolled or quick oats in a dry blender or electric coffee/spice mill)
- 4 tablespoons garbanzo bean flour
- 2 tablespoons GF soy sauce
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 2 tsp granulated onion
- 1 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp ground dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, otional
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Ground white pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a heavy saucepan over high heat, whisk together the yeast and flours, cooking until it smells toasty. Remove the saucepan from the heat, whisk in the water, soy sauce, salt, and spices whisking until mixture is smooth. Return saucepan to the heat, whisking constantly over high heat until gravy thickens and comes to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 to 5 minutes. This can be made ahead and reheated.
