I shared this recipe on a Facebook Live video last month, and somehow forgot to share the recipe here on the blog. This is seriously one of my favorite ways to make tofu in the air fryer, and one that I make a lot! It’s perfect in bowls, in wraps, with dipping sauce, on top of salads, or anywhere you want some super delicious protein to go with whatever you’re making.
I fry this in my Go Wise air fryer, and it’s really quick to make. I usually prep the rest of the dinner while this is cooking up, which makes for a very quick meal!
Here’s the Facebook Love video, so you can see how I make it.
Julie’s Super Delicious & Easy Air Fryer Tofu
Description
This tofu is awesome, and full of delicious savory flavor. It’s also gluten-free and vegan, and a snap to make!
Ingredients
- 1 14-ounce block firm or extra firm tofu, rinsed, patted dry and cut into cubes
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes
- 3 tablespoons gluten-free tamari or soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
- Black pepper, freshly ground, optional
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the tofu cubes, nutritional yeast flakes, soy sauce, garlic and pepper. Gently toss so that tofu is well coated.
Lightly mist the basket of the air fryer and add the tofu cubes in a fairly even layer. Mist the tofu lightly with a little more oil and then air fry the tofu at 400°F for 15 minutes (if using firm tofu, or about 10 to 12 minutes for extra firm tofu), stopping machine a few times to shake the basket and toss the tofu. The tofu should be nicely browned and the coating firm. The tofu pieces may also puff up a bit, but that’s totally fine and delicious.
Enjoy the tofu as is, or put in your favorite bowl, wrap, or salad.

I can’t wait to try this recipe, Julie! It sounds like everything I love. One question – is the recipe for a 10 ounce block of tofu or 20 ounce block of tofu?
Julie Hasson
Thanks Cadry! I use a 14-ounce block of tofu for this. xoxo

Hi Julie ,
Love your new videos! Is an air fryer the same as a dehydrator ?? Could you use a dehydrator when making some of your recipes?
Julie Hasson
Thanks Anne! That’s a great question. An air fryer is very different from a dehydrator. It’s kind of like a super-convection oven, that crisps and bakes your food with air. A dehydrator is low temp, and doesn’t have the super-convection. There are many different brands of the fryers. I use mine almost every day.

Thanks, Julie! Just doubled the recipe and noted that it required at least 10 extra minutes to get crispy in my GoWise. Delish!
